Realme C55 Review
Realme C55, one of the most popular Realme phones in the Bangladeshi market in the Q3 2023 season. Here we are going to review the 6/128 GB model which was priced at ৳19,999 upon its release and is currently priced at ৳19,999. There is also an 8/256 GB model which costs ৳22,999.
Design and Build
The phone is currently available in two different colors, sunshower and rainy night. There is also a so-called rainforest color which is not available by Realme Bangladesh. We are reviewing the sunshower color which is essentially golden you can say. It changes color under the sunlight. The rainy night is more of plain black.
The design looks nice on the front and on the back. On the front, there is a center punch hole that expands digitally in a so-called Mini Capsule or Dynamic Island design. It basically turns into an iPhone-like long notch while charging the phone. According to Realme, later, through their software update, it can be used for features such as showing notifications and so on. The back part looks nice as well and the phone is just 7.9 mm thin and the screen-to-body ratio is 86.7%. Overall, pretty satisfied with the design.
There is no Gorilla Glass, splash, dust or water resistance and the body is made of plastic so the build material is average.
Display
We are dealing with a 6.72-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. There is good color reproduction and contrast on the screen. It’s pretty vibrant. We have 680 nits peak brightness. The under-sunlight brightness is adequate.
Camera
There is a fine 64 MP main back camera with a 64B OmniVision sensor. The camera captures and processes vibrant colors, although, slightly more contrasty. There are good details and sharpness. However, there is a significant contrast boost in the low-light scenario. Even it’s the same when the night mode is on. Portrait mode is fairly decent, but sometimes has a little issue with edge detection, The background blur looks okay but it’s not on a professional level. There is a 2 MP secondary lens and an ultrawide lens is missing. The video quality looked great as well. There is no stabilization. It comes with features such as time-lapse, slow-mo. and so on.
The front camera has high brightness with a bit of soft tone. It’s okay for everyday purposes but not for serious mobile photography lovers. We expected it to be slightly better than this. You’ll find better front cameras at this price.
Battery and Performance
Realme C55 is packed with a typical 5000 mAh battery and a 33W Fast Charger. The charging time is about 1 hour and 5 to 10 minutes which is excellent. Nothing to complain about the battery.
We have the all-new Realme UI 4.0 with the latest Android 13. The chipset is a MediaTek Helio G88. Now, when we are going above 20K, you could easily expect a Helio G96 or Helio G99 chipset. Some phones will offer you that. Phones such as Infinix Note 30 offer Helio G99 and Realme Narzo 50 offers you a Helio G96 chipset at a lower price. Helio G88 is still a worthy chipset. There is 6 GB and an extra 6 GB virtual RAM option. Gaming should be lag-free. There is a little heating issue but it cools down if you let it rest for a bit. Overall, performance is pretty smooth and we are not complaining. But there is an option for 8 GB RAM with Helio G99 chipset by Infinix Note 30 at ৳18,999. So, Realme stays a bit behind compared to that.
Storage, Connectivity and Others
There is 128 GB fast UFS 2.2 storage and a dedicated MicroSD slot for additional up to 1 TB storage. You are getting all regular connectivity features except for FM Radio. We have both WiFi 2.4 and 5 GHz.
The sound quality is clear, but you may hear light distortion in full volume. No dual speakers in this phone. The fingerprint sensor is side-mounted and we have the E-Compass sensor.
