Realme C51 Review

Realme C51 Review
Realme C51 was recently introduced for Bangladeshi consumers as a lower-budget smartphone. Here we are reviewing the 4/64 GB variant which is officially priced at ৳15,999 upon its release. There is high competition in the market for phones in this price range so, let us see where the C51 model from Realme stands.

Design and Build

Realme is offering an honest design here. They didn’t try to make it look too premium when the features won’t reflect the design and we like this part about Realme. The phone looks neat and minimal, kind of elegant as well for its honesty. It does stand out for us. There is no punch-hole on the front and many of you may miss it. But the U-shaped notch is more preferred by us than the V-shaped notch. We still think it’s decent enough. The upper back side comes with a glossy finish and the lower side has a matt finish. The camera has the typical iPhone-like shape. It’s 8 mm slim with 186 grams weight. Overall, the design is pretty much good enough.

The body is made of plastic. There is no Gorilla Glass on the front or any kind of dust or splash protection. So, build quality is average.

Display

Realme C51 mobile display is a 6.74 inches HD+ IPS LCD one with a 90Hz refresh rate. You could expect a Full HD+ screen for this price but many phones around this price still offer an HD+ screen and the HD+ quality makes things lighter and also gives longer battery life. Many of us don’t need that Full HD boost. So, it’s up to the user to decide. The peak brightness is 560 nits which is adequate under sunlight but not great.

Camera

The 50 MP main back camera can capture shots with decent colors and medium kind of details in good lighting conditions. Low-light performance is very average. There is a Full HD video recording with no stabilization. It’s satisfactory.

The 5 MP front camera isn’t recommended at all. We expected at least an 8 MP camera with better details. Also, you can record maximum HD videos and there is no 1080p or Full HD recording option here. We see the front camera to be its main disadvantage which might be important for many users.

Battery and Performance

There is a 5000 mAh battery with the main feature of this phone which is a 33W charger. Now, it makes a good combination with the lower resolution HD+ display. If long battery life and faster charging is your thing, Realme C51 can be a fine low-budget choice.

The chipset is a Unisoc T612 one which we do not recommend. For this cost, we need at least a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset. The T612 from Unisec is good in terms of CPU or battery performance but it lags behind when it comes to gaming. So, if you want a fair gaming phone, this is not the choice for you. You’ll easily find other smartphones with a Helio G85 chipset around this price. There is 4 GB RAM for smooth enough multitasking and there is also an additional 4 GB virtual RAM option.

Storage, Connectivity and Others

There is a 64 GB ROM with a dedicated MicroSD slot. USB Type-C is also present. We don’t know if there is FM Radio or not, it’s unspecified. The audio quality is decent and the fingerprint sensor is side-mounted.
